Description
It was 1955 when, at the 25th Geneva Motor Show, the final version of the Mercedes 190 SL arrived for the first time.
His birth was thanks to Maximilian Edwin Hoffman (American importer of Mercedes), who strongly wanted a Roadster model inspired by the 300 SL but more economically accessible.
In the era of the economic miracle, a prestigious car like the Mercedes 190 SL, was just what we needed to power a category of young rampant with good economic possibilities.
The Mercedes 190 SL in fact represented the feeling of freedom of the "Swinging Fifties", it is proof of the presence of the car in the German films of the time as "The Zillertal Twins", 1957 and "As Long As The Roses Are In Bloom", 1956; for the first time the car of their dreams was within reach of such a wide audience.
Almost 80% of all production (25,881 vehicles between 1955 and 1963) was exported, half of these in the United States where roadsters have always been highly appreciated.
This excellent example of the 1956 Mercedes 190 SL (first series - Eligible 1000 Miglia) was subjected to a conservative restoration completed in July 2018 together with a thorough overhaul of the mechanical parts (including, but not exclusively: revision of the carburetors, replacement of the fuel pump, replacement of the steering rods, overhaul of the drums, replacement of the clutch and other work).
