Today, all original Renault windshields are made of laminated glass which allows the integrity of the windshield to be maintained in case of breakage. Laminated windshields consist of 2 layers of glass interspersed with PVB (polyvinyl butyral) which gives the windshield resistance to any type of impact, especially breakage.
The windshield is the most important element of automotive glass in terms of safety. Provides good visibility to the driver, contributes to the structural rigidity of the vehicle and protects against objects. There are different glass technologies: smoked (all windshields are at least smoked), acoustic, thermally insulated and heated. Some windshields are also equipped with a rain and dusk sensor (RLS) and a camera support.
