LinkMotors Castel di Leva offers for sale Jaguar XJ6 III series of the year 1979 completely original.
At the end of the seventies it was necessary to update the XJ to the new decade coming soon. The intervention should have been a simple update to keep the model on the market for a few months, as it was already in the advanced design stage a completely new later version. In reality, the Series III, presented in March 1979, confirms its success and became the longest and most highly regarded XJ series.
The most important aesthetic interventions were: the revised grille, the redesigned and enlarged rear light clusters, the new chromed profile of the tail, new thicker bumpers with the attached rubber profile including the integration of the direction indicators and the rear fog lamp. rear, the most inclined windshield, elimination of the front baffles, new design of the rear windows and a slightly higher passenger compartment. It was thanks to the increased inhability acquired that, for the first time in the history of Jaguar sedans, it was possible to request an optional electric sunroof.
Even the interiors were completely redesigned but maintained the typical opulence of the English brand, with extensive use of natural leather and walnut root. The most innovative aspect was represented by the first appearance of electronics, offering as accessories one of the first examples of on-board computers and cruise control.
Few, however, the technical innovations. The 4.2-liter 6-cylinder engine benefited from tinkering with the adoption of an injection and larger valves, which resulted in an increase in the maximum power that reached 205 hp at 5,000 rpm, while on the front of the transmissions, a new 3-speed automatic cam was made available.
In the history remains the most appreciated vehicle.
